Following weeks of painstaking investigation and coordinated law enforcement measures, police have confirmed the arrest of Mr. Brandy George Idumange (from Ogbia) in connection with the brutal murder of his colleague, Mr. Richard Ekpebu(from Amassoma).
Mr. Ekpebu was discovered dead from multiple gunshot wounds at Bayelsa Palm in early August, sparking shockwaves across the community. Investigators revealed that Mr. Idumange allegedly killed Mr. Ekpebu in order to steal ₦9 million from a land transaction. After the crime, he reportedly took the victim’s phone and car, transferring the funds to himself in a bid to cover his tracks.
Law enforcement authorities disclosed that Mr. Idumange was apprehended yesterday morning in Lagos, just as he attempted to flee the country. His arrest was made possible through vital intelligence gathering and the active cooperation of both the Bayelsa community and the state government.
This development follows an earlier arrest of his girlfriend, Miss Victory Benard Henry, with Facebook name as ‘Tee Savage’(from Akwa-ibom) who police say played a role in hiding his weapons. She was intercepted some weeks ago while attempting to travel abroad.
Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law, emphasizing that crimes of this nature will not go unpunished.
