Bayelsa: Oporoma Clan and Its Current Leadership Void

The Oporoma Clan, one of the cardinal traditional ancestries in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, is revered for its rich human and natural resources driving the economy of Bayelsa State and Nigeria.

However, since the glorious demise of the last Ebenanaowei (Clan Head), HRM King Dressman Bidi who was laid to rest on December 14, 2024, the prestigious Oporoma Ebenanaowei First-Class Stool has been left vacant, with no sign in sight of preparation to elect or install a new Ebenanaowei.

From the foregoing, it's imperative that various autonomous community leadership should make concerted efforts to put in place mechanisms of electing/installing a new Ebenanaowei of Oporoma Clan.

For Oporoma Clan to make meaningful progress and be in development tandem with sister clans, a competent and effective leadership should be put in place to coordinate and liaise with the state government and International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating within the environs of the clan.

That is the only way we can fully utilize the benefits and privileges due to us as a people.

Therefore, this is to draw the attention of the various autonomous community leaderships and the general public to make effective plans for electing a new Ebenanaowei of Oporoma Clan that will bring peace, unity, and progress.
