Commissioner Zibs-Godwin Applauds Governor Diri's Vision for Marine Transport Development

The Honourable Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Mrs. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin, has commended the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, for his bold strides in repositioning the state’s marine transport sector.

Dr. Zibs-Godwin made the commendation on Friday during an inspection of the Ministry’s first batch of marine transport fleets at the Marine Base, Yenagoa.

Accompanied by officers of the Nigerian Navy, the Commissioner led a test run of the first batch of fleets along the state’s waterways, describing the development as a “game changer for coastal mobility, waterway safety, and economic growth in Bayelsa State.”

She noted that the deployment of the new fleets demonstrates the state government’s unwavering commitment to improving marine transportation, boosting inter-community connectivity, and promoting the blue economy agenda for sustainable development.

The test operation also highlighted the readiness of the vessels for service and the government’s determination to ensure safe, efficient, and affordable transport across Bayelsa’s extensive waterways.
