The women, who staged a peaceful protest that disrupted vehicular movement along the Agudama axis on Wednesday, called on the Bayelsa State Government to urgently intervene in the worsening situation before it escalates further.
Dressed in black to express their grief and frustration, the protesters told Rhythm 94.7 Yenagoa correspondent, Ikiemoye Embiowei, that young men from the neighbouring community have been invading their farmlands, harassing them, and destroying their crops.
According to the protesters, despite the fact that the matter is currently before a competent court of law, the alleged aggressors have continued to trespass into their farmlands and, in some cases, reportedly attacked and killed members of the Agudama community.
They lamented that the continuous invasion of their ancestral lands has left many women in fear and unable to access their means of livelihood.
The women are appealing to Governor Douye Diri and the security agencies in the state to swiftly wade into the matter to protect lives and property and restore peace between the two communities.
