The Bayelsa State Ministry of Environment is in possession of credible intel that certain group of individuals are fraudulently using the name of the Ministry to demand and collect payment for effluent discharge levies and other environmental charges for personal gains. This is a fraudulent act and in violation of State financial procedures.

For the avoidance of doubt the ministry has not engaged any individual, consultant agent or/and any third party to collect such levies on behalf of Government.

Members of the public, corporate organisations, and business concerns are strongly advised that all payments for Effluent Charges and related environmental fees must be paid directly into the official account of the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) with the following details with the Access Bank.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious demand for charges to the Ministry of Environment or the Board of Internal Revenue through official channels. Fraudsters are also warned to desist as anyone caught impersonating the Ministry or engaging in unauthorized revenue collection will face the wrath of the Law.
