20th August, 2025 170 EXCO: GOVERNOR DIRI RECEIVES CHAMPION OF RESIDENCY TRAINING AWARD …APPROVES 2025 RESIDENCY TRAI

Governor of Bayesla State, Senator Douye Diri today received the Champion of Residency Training Award from the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors which was presented during the 170th State Executive Council Meeting in Government House, Yenagoa.

Governor Diri stated that training and retraining of the state workforce would continue to receive the attention of his administration.

His words: For us as a state, if we must sustain our capacity to improve the standard of living of our people, the issues of health and education must continue to gain priority from this government.

Speaking shortly before presenting the award to His Excellency, Governor Diri, the President, National Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Osunba Tope Zenith recounted some of the many achievements in the health sector across Bayelsa State by the Miracle Governor to include domestication of the Medical Residency Training Act in the State, employment of over 500 health professional, periodic/annual payment of the residency fund, establishment of the Bayelsa Medical University, the Heom-Dialysis Center, approval of eight additional courses in the College of Health Technology Otuogidi, and upgrade of the College of Nursing in Tombia.

Present at the Exco meeting were the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Chairman, Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Hon. Oyinke Godbless and other executive council members.
