A cross-section of the people of Bayelsa State have once again passed a vote of confidence on the Prosperity Administration under Governor Douye Diri and Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for their outstanding performance in the past 5 years.
This is not the first time the people will pass the vote of confidence on him.
In separate interviews in Yenagoa, the people argued that Governor Diri, has delivered massively on infrastructural development and security across the state.
Elder Owei Amatare, who hails from Ekeremor main town of Ekeremor Local Government Area, described Governor Diri as a true Ijaw patriot and a transformer for opening up many riverine communities with roads.
“Bayelsa is truly lucky to have Diri as our governor today. Everybody knows the truth. I am a frank man. See our Ekeremor road, yes, he took it over from former Governor, now we drive to Ekeremor main town and other communities. He has even continued to Agge now. Let’s appreciate this man, he means well”, Elder Amatare said.
Another respondent, Mrs. Ayiba-ere Johnson, who hails from Koluama 1 in Southern Ijaw, said Governor Diri is God-sent as the builder of a new Bayelsa State.
According to her, the projects and programmes are visible in every sector ranging from roads, bridges, education, health, security, civil service, youth and women empowerment as well as power.
A trader at Kpansia market, Mrs. Elizabeth Erewari, who is from Nembe LGA, said Bayelsa State under the current administration was a dream come true, insisting that local businesses are booming because the government regularly pay workers in the state.
Mrs. Erewari, said many jobs had been created at various projects sites across the eight Local Government that has put money in the hands of the citizens.
“I hear that Bayelsa State government has employed new teachers and another round of employment is going on in the civil service. Douye Diri has done very well. He is really a good man with a good heart. He is loved by Bayelsans for all the good things he is doing for Bayelsans”, Mrs. Erewari said.
Mrs. Erewari said that “on a lighter note, if Senator Douye Diri contest another election, I will mobilise support for him.”
A non-Indigene from Osun State and Meat Seller along the Azikoro road in Ekeki, Mr. Ola Shehu described the peaceful atmosphere in the state capital,Yenagoa as "welcoming.”
According to him, the responses of the prosperity administration at resolving disputes and ensuring peace and security has added to the secured feeling and comfortable interaction between the residents of the state capital and better for businesses in the state
A member of the board of Trustee of the All Stars Internationals,Bayelsa State, Engr. Ebinimi Ebiegberi Noel has also described the Gov. Douye Diri initiatives in sports development as "spectacular and "legendary.”
According to Engr. Ebi, " Governor Diri has demonstrated significant commitment to sports development in the state."
" As active stakeholder in sports, the prosperity administration's initiatives, such as the Prosperity Cup, a grassroots football tournament, have yielded positive results, discovering and nurturing young football talents who have gone on to thrive professionally within and outside Nigeria."
" The governor's passion for sports is evident in the tournament's continuous innovation and expansion, including the introduction of male, female, and para categories, with over 250 teams receiving sets of jerseys every year."
"Governor Diri's investment in sports development extends beyond football, with initiatives like the Governor Diri National Scrabble Championship, regular athletics meets and the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association's world-class facility, "The Fortress."
"His administration has also launched coaching training programs for local trainers and plans to construct a 25,000-capacity stadium in Igbogene, Yenagoa. These efforts have earned our praises."
