The Faceless Bayelsa state civil service recruitment: By Amb Kenneth Isreal

Post by Abigail pereowei »

If Bayelsa state civil service recruitment is functioning as a fundamental human right and civic principle, every individual who applied and willing to contribute to their state will be guaranteed access to meaningful, fairly compensated employment without having any connections.

These civil service opportunities should be managed through community-level initiatives and public cooperatives, directly responsive to local people/unconnected citizens and approved by local councils, rather than being dictated by centralized agencies. If the electioneering process will be decided by polling units, individuals should also have the privilege to enroll for civil service jobs through the local councils to ensure that no one is marginalized.

The state government and the Bayelsa state civil service commission will earn a level of dignity, and the masses will regain hope in the system, rather than an outdated social contract theory known as Democracy. If we can apply this direct community-level initiative, it will minimize the rate of sexually harassing our innocent job-seeking girls and also help a few of our youths in the Creeks to be gainfully employed and reduce sea-piracy in our waterways and communities.

It will also create and foster a sense of belonging and responsibility in our rural communities. The true philosopher is always in love with truth. For Plato, philosophy is not about clever arguments but about a deep devotion to truth. A genuine philosopher pursues truth relentlessly, even when it challenges comfort or consensus.

However, the civil service recruitment process is full of errors and mismanagement, making majority of youths lose interest in the system and the government of the day. There are accusations of giving out job opportunities to alleged friends who are non-indigenes, while Ijaw youths roam the streets of Yenagoa, killing each other, begging from house to house, and indulging in cultism.

While we pretend to solve the problems of our youths, we should always do the right thing, hence the youths will rise up someday!

The faceless Bayelsa state civil service recruitment process has been criticized for its lack of transparency and accountability. Many have raised concerns about nepotism, corruption, and unfair treatment of applicants. The process often favors those with connections, leaving deserving candidates without opportunities, while I expect our leaders who claim jurisdiction on matters like this to protect the interest of our youths, there is a dark silence then the information officer of IYC Bassan clan must speak!
