Post by Abigail pereowei »

The Corps Discipline and Reward Officers in all NYSC Secretariats across the country have been charged to embrace digitization as a tool to improve their efficiency.

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu gave this charge today in his address at the Technical Capacity Building Workshop with the theme; "Equipping Heads of Corps Discipline & Reward with Technical Skills on Their Role on the NYSC Integrated System", organized for the Officers, which was held in Abuja.

He said NYSC as a dynamic and forward-looking institution had embraced digitization as a tool to improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability in its operations.

The Director General, who was represented by the Director, Legal Services, Barrister Chris Ogar urged the Corps Discipline and Reward Officers to use all the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills that would be gained from the workshop to effectively discharge their responsibilities on the NYSC Integrated System.

He reiterated Management's commitment to continuously upgrading their skills while providing the enabling environment and required infrastructure for optimal performance.

General Nafiu also admonished them to serve as champions of digital transformation at their respective Secretariats, while providing timely feedback to Management.

"As the Head of Corps Discipline and Reward, you are expected to; "Maintain accurate and timely reporting of cases, ensuring that no data is lost and uphold the highest standards of discipline, fairness and accountability in managing Crops Members", the Director General added.

In her welcome address, the Director of ICT, Mrs Aminat Arunah said with increasing demands on transparency real-time reporting, and data-driven desicion making, the roles of Heads of Corps Discipline and Reward can no longer be executed through manual procedures alone.

"It must be supported by robust digital skills, guided by policy reforms, and aligned with the Scheme's overall mandate", she said.
