GGM Commends NDDC’s “Light Up the Niger Delta” Initiative, Urges Bayelsans to Support Ogbuku’s Visionary Leadership

The Director-General of the Grassroots Galvanization Movement (GGM), Hon. Ebisele Azibalua Oyabara, has commended the Dr. Samuel Ogbuku-led Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for its transformative “Light Up the Niger Delta” initiative, describing it as a legacy project that is changing the face of the region.

Hon. Oyabara noted that the solar-powered streetlight project has gone beyond improving security in communities to revitalizing economic activities, promoting night life, and providing clean, sustainable energy for even the most interior villages across the nine Niger Delta states.

In a statement he personally signed, the GGM DG noted that “From Rivers State to Bayelsa, as well as other remote communities previously left in darkness, as well as other states across the region, this initiative has brought illumination, safety, and hope. Businesses are thriving, communities feel safer, and residents are experiencing development in real time. This is what leadership is all about.”.

The GGM boss stressed that the project aligns with global sustainability goals, supports Nigeria’s 2050–2070 net-zero carbon target, and demonstrates the NDDC’s commitment to practical, people-oriented development.

He further urged all Bayelsans and Niger Deltans to rally around Dr. Ogbuku and support his well-thought-out initiatives, which he said are laying the foundation for lasting progress in the region.

“We must give maximum support to leaders like Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who are redefining governance with impact-driven projects. The Light Up Niger Delta initiative is a clear sign that with the right vision and sincerity of purpose, the Niger Delta can truly rise,” Hon. Oyabara added.

The GGM reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing grassroots support for developmental projects and called on political stakeholders, community leaders, and civil society groups to join hands with the NDDC in sustaining the momentum for regional transformation.
