Thank you, University of Lagos, Akoka, for the honour of capturing our modest achievements and progress in Bayelsa State in a book titled “Leadership Chronicles of Governor Douye Diri.”
At the formal book presentation, Public Lecture and Institution of a Professorial Chair on Leadership and Good Governance on me in Lagos today, I acknowledged everyone who contributed to this important work including the authors, editorial team, the University of Lagos Consult’s team as well as the people of Bayelsa State for their trust.
I am deeply grateful to the erudite Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola and the management team for instituting in my honour, a Professorial Chair on Leadership and Good Governance to reflect my passion and investment in education.
As the son of a teacher and a teacher myself, I am profoundly appreciative of this honour bearing in mind that education remains the bedrock of any advancing society. I shall do my best to support the Chair and to encourage scholarship that will benefit Bayelsa and the nation.
Let me say a big thank you to our leader and chairman of the Public Presentation of the book, the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima for sending the Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat to represent him.
I also wish to express my deepest appreciation to my dear brother and friend, His Excellency, Caleb Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State for your sound delivery of the public lecture on leadership on the occasion.
I felt elated to see top government officials from Bayelsa State, captains of industry and friends at the event and I wish to acknowledged your financial support towards the book and endowment that will add value to educational advancement in the country. Nua! Umbana!
