The Igbanwari community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Saturday witnessed a solemn gathering as the remains of the late military veteran, Abraham Zipele, were laid to rest amidst glowing tributes.

The late Zipele, father of Rear Admiral E.A. Zipele, Brigadier General P.A. Zipele, and Wing Commander B.A. Zipele, was celebrated for his meritorious service to Nigeria, his commitment to peacebuilding in his community, and his dedication to the church.

The burial attracted a high-powered military presence, with senior officers and personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Defence, and the Department of State Services (DSS) turning out in honour of a man whose legacy extends through his children serving the nation in top military ranks. The occasion featured a colourful parade, solemn tributes, and reflections on his contributions to Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large.

Also in attendance were family members and dignitaries. The late Zipele, great in-law to late Dokori Asiayei, was further honoured by the Asiayei family of Ayakoromo, Bobougbene, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, led by Asiayei Enaibo, Managing Editor of GbaramatuVoice.

The event was described as a historic farewell and a moment of reflection on the life of a man whose service and legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
