Concerned residents of Aritallin road, Ovum, Yenagoa have raised an alarm over the ongoing construction of a mosque in the area which is blocking a natural drainage.
Speaking with newsmen at the construction site, one of the resident, Mr. George Azi, lamented the ongoing construction of the mosque which he said is blocking the natural carnal which collects water from Gwe Gwe and Aritallin streets and empties it into the river.
Mr. Azi said residents of the area are already feeling the effect of the construction as the areas is usually flooded during and after every little rain.
He wondered why the project has been allowed to continue despite series of complaints from residents of the area and the obvious negative effect it is having on the people of the street.
Also speaking, Emmanuel Amabebe, another resident, appealed to the Bayelsa State Government and other relevant agencies to come to the aid of the people of Aritallin and Gwe Gwe streets by putting an end to the Construction of the said project.
He said failure of relevant agencies to swing into action immediately will not only subject residents of the area to hardship as a result of the flood it is already causing but will also be against the urban renewal drive of the Prosperity Administration which is doing everything possible to give Yenagoa a befitting look.
