‎..... says "King Fisher" to be adopted in secondary schools in Bayelsa

‎Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wife, Dr. Gloria Diri, today, graced the 60th birthday celebration of His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, AGADA IV, Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom and Chairman, Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers.

‎The event which took place at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa was also to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of King Dakolo and His wife, Queen Timinipre, and the launch of two of his books, "Pirates of the Gulf" and "The King Fisher."

‎Governor Diri while congratulating King Dakolo, also urged the youth of Bayelsa State to emulate him, stating that this is the time for intellectual militancy.

‎The governor further directed the Honourable commissioner for Education to adopt "The King Fisher" in all secondary schools in the state, beginning from the new academic session.

‎"This is a man who started afresh after what happened to him in the Nigerian Defence Academy, and today, he's a king and a Prolific writer.

‎This is to tell our younger ones that, no matter what happens, it is not over for you. King Dakolo is a role Model, and I urge our youth to follow his footsteps.

‎In the past, we had adopted one of his books, and today, we are going to adopt another of his books, and I believe that the most suitable to adopt in our secondary schools is the "King Fisher," beginning from the new academic session”, Governor Diri stated.

‎Other dignitaries at the event include, Hon. Fred Agbedi, member representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Hon. Oboku Oforji, member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), immediate past deputy governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman of the state elders' council, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State Petroleum (Oil), Managing Director, NDDC, Dr. Sam Ogbuku, members of the State House of Assembly, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the state government, traditional rulers and other top government functionaries.
