Bayelsa Govt: Contractor set to begin construction of Oporoma-Ondewari road project

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has continued to link more riverine communities with road access.

He is truly not happy with the state of underdevelopment in many riverine communities, hence his drive to connect them to the state capital, Yenagoa by roads. The latest is Ondewari community, Southern Ijaw LGA.

Just as the road construction is nearing completion in Otuan, Oporoma and Eniwari, the contractor is set to commence work on the about 13km stretch with a bridge from Oporoma to Ondewari community.

Representatives of the company, the CCECC, have visited the community to meet with the people, who are excited and appreciative of Governor Douye Diri for his courage to take roads to riverine places.

It is a new life; a new reasoning as the people of Ondewari, expressed their readiness to cooperate with the contractors insisting, “We are happy that this is happening in our life time. We cannot thank His Excellency, Sen.Douye Diri, our Amiable Governor enough, even as we give God the glory.”

Once the road project is completed, the people of Ondewari, have resolved to mark an annual celebration, “Road sef don reach Ondewari.”
