The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bayelsa State Command, has announced a major breakthrough in its fight against drug abuse with the arrest of a notorious drug distributor and the seizure of a significant cache of illicit substances.

Following a months-long undercover operation, the command arrested Chief Emeka Opara, 52, and his sales girl, Chidinma Onuoha, 25, on Friday, August 1, 2025.

A search of Opara's home and shop yielded a haul of 41,705 capsules of Tramadol and other psychotropic drugs including Molly, Diazepam, Codeine, Swinol, and Pentazocine.

The seized drugs had a total weight of 29.127 kilograms and an estimated street value of millions of Naira.

According to the NDLEA, Chief Opara is a major distributor of illegal drugs to students, particularly those at the Niger Delta University in Amassoma.

Reacting to the successful operation, the State Commander, Kanu Chukwuemeka, Commander of Narcotics, emphasized the agency's renewed commitment to combating drug abuse.

He called on stakeholders, including the Niger Delta University and the Bayelsa State Government, to embrace the NDLEA's "Integrity Drug Test" initiative as a means of early detection, treatment, and prevention. #Drugsafety #drugstore #ndlea #NDLEA
